4 days4-Day Northern Morocco: Fes, Chefchaouen & Tangier
Two unhurried nights in Chefchaouen, a hike to Akchour’s waterfalls, Tetouan’s medina and Tangier’s Atlantic headlands.

Chefchaouen’s blue-washed lanes in the Rif mountains are one of Morocco’s most photographed sights. It can be visited in a day from Fes, but with about 3.5–4 hours of driving each way, it is a very long day with limited time in town. If you can, we recommend staying overnight on our 4-day Northern Morocco tour instead.
Fes → Ouazzane → Chefchaouen → Fes
Best for: Travellers with only one free day in Fes who are comfortable with 7–8 hours in a vehicle.
Driving times are approximate and exclude long stops; they vary with weather, roads and traffic.
We leave Fes early, around 7–7:30 am, and drive north through farmland and olive groves into the Rif foothills, with a coffee stop on the way. We arrive in Chefchaouen at around 11 am. Spend roughly four to five hours exploring – with a local guide on request – through the blue lanes to Plaza Uta el-Hammam, the kasbah and its garden, and the Ras el-Maa spring where locals still wash clothes. If you have energy, the uphill walk to the Spanish Mosque gives a fine view. After a late lunch, we leave at around 3:30–4 pm and expect to reach Fes between 7:30 and 8:30 pm. It is a full, tiring day; an overnight stay is far more relaxed.
We confirm these details in your written quote:
No accommodation is included – this is a day trip returning the same evening. If you would like to stay overnight, we can suggest options and adapt the plan.
Travel is by private air-conditioned vehicle with driver. Lunch is at your own expense in Chefchaouen.
This is a very long day with 7–8 hours of driving on winding roads; bring motion-sickness remedies if needed. Chefchaouen is hilly with many steps and is challenging for people with limited mobility. Ask before photographing residents. Roads in the Rif can be affected by fog and rain in winter.
