ITINERARY OF 5 DAY MARRAKECH TO MERZOUGA TOUR

DAY 1: MARRAKECH - THE HIGH ATLAS MOUNTAINS - AIT BEN HADDOU - BOUMALNE DADES

This Marrakech to Merzouga excursion begins with a departure from Marrakech at 8:00 am.

Driving to Ait Ben Haddou via the magnificent Tizi-N-Tichka pass and the High Atlas Mountains. The Atlas Mountains’ stunning scenery and unique Berber settlements may be seen at numerous stops along the route.

You will tour Ait Ben Haddou’s most well-known Kasbah, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987. The fortified settlement served as the backdrop for scenes from popular television shows like Gladiator and Game of Thrones.

Following a delicious lunch, we travel through Kalaat M’Gouna to Boumalne, where we can stop to tour a little distillery that produces roses. We will follow the Dades Valley after arriving in Boumalne, passing through a number of fortified villages to see the beautiful monkey rock formations, and then we will take you to your accommodation. supper and the night.

DAY 2: BOUMALNE DADES - TODRA GORGE - MERZOUGA

Have a delectable breakfast at your accommodation in the Dades Valley to start the second day. Drive to Tinghir and pause to take in the lovely sight of an oasis and kasbahs, the residences of Berbers and Jews. Before travelling to the Sahara desert, you will also get to wander beneath the 300-meter-high cliffs of the Todra Gorges. We eat lunch somewhere along the road, and when we get to where we’re going, your camel guide and camels will be waiting to carry you to your camp across the golden sand dunes of Erg Chebbi. In this location, you may go sandboarding and witness a beautiful sunset from the top of a tall dune. The camp staff will provide a great dinner at night, then amuse you with the drums around a campfire, beneath a stary night.

DAY 3: EXPLORATIVE DAY OF THE DESERT

It is highly advised to get up early today so you may observe a peaceful sunrise from your camp. After a delicious breakfast here, we will pick you up in a 4×4 and begin your Saharan exploration:

1. Take a drive to the location where the nomads are congregating. They’ll be delighted to host you for a cup of tea in one of their tents. It is a wonderful chance to learn about how they survive in a hostile area far from civilization.

2. Go to a remote, secret settlement that has been abandoned! The Galena mines are located in the town. You’ll be able to see them as well.

3. Go to Khamlia, another village, where you can hear the residents playing Gnaoua music. Their ancestral home is in southern African nations like Sudan. You can also eat lunch nearby at a local eatery.

4. Before travelling to your riad, we stop at a lake close to the village of Merzouga after lunch.

DAY 4: MERZOUGA - RISSANI - AGDEZ - OUARZAZATE

On the terrace of your riad, an early start today rewards you with another serene sunrise. then let’s begin our journey. First, we’ll make a pit stop in Rissani’s historic district and visit a local souk. After that, go to Ouarzazate via the intriguing Draa valley, stopping in Agdez to take in the valley scenery. In the evening, get to your riad in Ouarzazate.

DAY 5: EXPLORE OUARZAZATE - TELOUET KASBAH - HIGH ATLAS MOUNTAINS MARRAKECH

Our trip ends with a delicious breakfast served in your riad. Ouarzazate is referred to as the Hollywood of Africa and the entrance to the Sahara desert. The city has become a well-known filming location because to the Atlas studio and the old Kasbah of Taourirt.

We go through the Atlas Mountains on the way back to Marrakech after visiting both sights. We’ll make a pit stop en route to the Telouat Kasbah, which is situated along the old caravan route from the Sahara to Marrakech.

This five-day journey of the Moroccan desert will come to an end when you arrive in Marrakech in the evening and are dropped off at the airport or your lodging.

About nine hours are needed to drive from Marrakech to Merzouga. Because of this, the 5-day itinerary from Marrakech to Merzouga includes a night in the Dades Valley before arriving in the desert and another in Ouarzazate before returning to Marrakech.
This is a fantastic question because at “Morocco Amazing Tour” we value passenger comfort greatly. For larger parties, we do use the Mercedes Benz sprinter minibus, Ford 8-seater van, and Toyota Prado Land Cruiser TX. We can also utilise other cosy vehicles! Use of a 4×4 vehicle is common in the desert.

Sandboarding is indeed covered. If you are interested, please let your guide know; if the camp is full, he will make sure you get a board once you arrive.
